Frequently Asked Questions
How does property ownership work in Nicaragua?
It is involved but a good lawyer can make it seem like low effort. There are no restrictions on property ownership to foreigners.
How easy would it be to move abroad?
Catch a flight here. We will pick you up at the airport and get you set up with everything you will need to begin your new adventure.
What are the benefits?
Cost of living is half the cost of living in the US. Skip paying high taxes and medical insurance. Revel in warm temperatures year round. Brush up on (or learn!) Spanish while building relationships with friendly locals. Hike up volcanoes, eat fresh mangoes and guavas, learn to surf, enjoy a more relaxed pace of life.
What is your experience living in Nicaragua?
We moved our family here in 2013 from the USA. I work remotely doing software development, training local contractors and increasing their job possibilities. Our kids gained full fluency in Spanish after 2 months and have enjoyed attending local schools, taking part in tae kwan do, soccer, and ballet with Nicaraguan children. We have visited coffee plantations in the mountains, swam in lagoons created by extinct volcanoes, watched baby turtles be released into the Pacific Ocean, learned to surf and speak Spanish, explored some of the first buildings ever built in the New World. We have been adopted by a local church which is like a second family to us, and with whom we've been able to help serve some of the poorer communities in town.
